[English below] “Koning Willem-Alexander, van harte gefeliciteerd!” Vluchtelingen in Groningen feliciteren de Koning en bezingen in een feestelijk oranje tenue hun dankbaarheid voor de Nederlandse gastvrijheid. Evert Sulman, coördinator van Stichting Groningen Verwelkomt: “Mohammed zei me dat hij, Carla en anderen een video wilde maken om de Koning te feliciteren. Dat hebben we natuurlijk mogelijk gemaakt!” Het internetnieuws Sikkom leverde een cameraman, de Feestwinkel Confetti de oranje aankleding en de vluchtelingen bepaalden de inhoud van de video.
Ontstaan
New Life is ontstaan in oktober 2015 vanuit het verlangen van veertien Syrische vluchtelingen om een nieuw leven te beginnen. Hoe maak je dan contact met de mensen in je gastland? Veertien Syrische vluchtelingen besloten om die reden een koor te vormen met de naam: New Life. Muziek als sleutel voor verbinding tussen mensen. Het koor zingt Syrische, Engelse en Nederlandse-talige nummers. New Life is ambassadeur van Stichting Groningen Verwelkomt die het koor ondersteunt bij optredens, oefeningen en video’s om de boodschap van deze vluchtelingen te verspreiden.
Op 5 mei zingt New Life op de landelijke start van Bevrijdingsdag op de Grote Markt in Groningen.

Evert Sulman, coordinator of the Foundation Groningen Verwelkomt: “Mohammed told me that he, Carla and the others wanted to make a video to congratulate the King. Naturally we made that possible!” The internet new site Sikkom supplied the camera man, the party store Confetti the orange dressing and the refugees decided on the content of the video.
History
New Life originated in Oktober 2015 from the desire of fourteen Syrian refugees to start a new life. How to make contact with people in your host country? The fourteen Syrian refugees decided to start a choir: New Life. Music as the connection between people. The choir sing Syrian, English and Dutch songs. New Life is the ambassador of the Groningen Verwelkomt foundation. Groningen Verwelkomt assists the choir with their performances, rehearsals and video’s to spread the message of these refugees.
On May 5 New Life will sing at the national start of Liberation day at the Grote Markt in Groningen.
